A wide paved patio surrounds the barn on the south and west, which is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sun during the day and also to watch the sunsets. This is the traditional orchard, which is planted with fruit trees including apple, pear, plum, cherry.
The two silver trees in the far corner were Silver Wedding presents for Bob and Lorna. Around the patio the beds are planted with plants chosen for their fragrance, herbs which you may pick for the kitchen, other plants are chosen for their ability to sustain the wildlife which is native to this area. Diverse habitats have been encouraged to develop. There is plenty of space here for children to play, also an old tractor.
